FULL MOONS OF 2024
In 2024 we will have a total of 12 full moons, one full moon per month. In June and July we will experience a full moon in the sign of Capricorn twice in a row.
The full moons have their own names, which can vary depending on the culture and continent. There are many names, as every people – sometimes every tribe – gave the moons its own names, which are based on the seasons as well as their practices or gods. Nevertheless, there is a list of widely used names for the full moons in the annual cycle that are common in Europe and North America.
Wolf Moon – January – 25.01.2024
Time: 18:55 CET/CEST in the sign of Leo
In January, everything seems to be asleep. The darkness of night moves through the forests and silence spreads in the frozen air. In this icy frozen darkness, the only sound is the howling of wolves. The wolf has long been associated with the moon and its goddesses, with Artemis and Diana, the moon goddesses of the Greeks and Romans. They were usually accompanied by wolves. The key to the magic of the Wolf Moon lies in how wolves interact with each other. Like us humans, they live in packs, have leaders and strong family ties. Rituals and affirmations to strengthen family and circle of friends have a strong effect on this moon – and anything that strengthens our role as leaders works just as well.
Snow Moon – February – 24.02.2024

While the land is covered in snow and ice, and looks like it’s covered with icing sugar, winter is in full force. We usually have more snow in February than in December or January. Everyone longs for spring and in earlier times food was often scarce at this time. This is why many people call the February moon the hunger moon, especially since animals in nature also find little to eat. The magical properties of the snow moon lie in the nature of snow itself; its power is cleansing and refreshing. Affirmations and rituals for new beginnings and letting go of the past, that makes us tired and robs us of our strength, are particularly effective on this full moon. We can step out of a time of scarcity and restrictions and into new growth.
Worm Moon – March – 25.03.2024

The air gets warmer. Snow and ice melt. The silence of winter gives way to the gentle vibrations of spring, when everything awakens and grows. The meltwater waters the ground and softens it, while the worms drill small holes in it, to make the land fertile again. And even if there are only worms in the ground at the beginning, everything quickly starts to grow. The spring moon asks us what we want from spring. What should grow? What seeds have we already planted? Have we allowed them to grow? Affirmations to achieve goals can blossom incredibly under the worm moon. A beautiful ritual is to write all your wishes on a piece of paper and bury it in fertile soil. The worms carry the energy of our wish deep into the earth. All we have to do is to trust that our wish will come true and watch the seed sprout and unfold.
Pink Moon – April – 24.04.2024

The soil has been watered and prepared, now the green of the plants covers the ground and everything begins to bloom in all colors. Pink is the color of Venus in the zodiac sign of Taurus, and invites romantic spring feelings. In some cultures this moon is also called the egg moon because it is closely connected to Ostara, Easter and the spring equinox. The pink moon lets our lives blossom and supports rituals and affirmations for our love life and beauty. It makes everything in life romantic. It is the time to love yourself, to love life and to live from the heart.
Flower Moon – May – 23.05.2024

The meadows and forests are blooming. Bees are everywhere and birds are chirping. The scent of flowers is in the air. During this time, everything seems to develop. Everything grows, blooms, smells and shines in all its splendor. The time of the flower moon is permeated with creativity and productivity. Its magical energy is so intense that affirmations manifest easily. This moon is particularly well suited to the topic of fertility and everything you want to create.
Strawberry Moon – June – 22.06.2024

In many countries, this is the peak of the strawberry harvest. Fertility has manifested itself and we taste their sweet and fruity taste. It is warm, everything feels full and round. The power of the Strawberry Moon manifests wealth and prosperity, both internally and externally. Buck’s Moon – JulY – 21.07.2024

The stag struts gracefully across the green land. It feeds on the fresh greenery, enjoys the chirping of birds and quenches its thirst in cool streams. During the Buck’s Moon, nature celebrates its success, its triumph, its full splendor – symbolized by the magnificent stag. Everything has developed as nature intended. All affirmations related to success are particularly effective during the stag moon. Under its light, gemstones and talismans, that are supposed to keep the energy of success with us, can be charged particularly effectively. Sturgeon Moon – August – 19.08.2024

Sturgeons are large fish that live in the higher latitudes of the northern hemisphere. Under the Sturgeon Moon, the great blue lakes are filled with life, and you can occasionally see a sturgeon there. Deep waters are still and connect all life with each other. It almost seems as if the lakes communicate with all other bodies of water and unite them. Everything is connected. We are the sturgeons that live in the lakes. The Sturgeon Moon helps us to find like-minded people and to deepen our connections to people, animals, the earth, the universe, the elements. It helps us to recognize and feel the interconnectedness of everything that exists.
Harvest Moon – September – 18.09.2024

The harvest begins, the fields are golden yellow. All the work has borne fruit and we are in the process of collecting it and stocking up. It doesn’t matter whether we put a little money aside or recharge our inner batteries. In order to survive, we have to make provisions for times of scarcity in times of abundance. We are allowed to receive the reward for our efforts. The harvest moon is suitable for blessing the earth, for sharing gratitude and abundance. And from this abundance of the harvest, it is easy to form affirmations so that the blessing stays with us for as long as possible and we always have wealth and abundance in our lives.
Hunter Moon – October – 17.10.2024
Time: 13:28 CET/CEST in the sign of Aries
When hunting, animals that would not survive the winter are killed. This is done as quickly as possible to avoid suffering for the prey. Therefore, the Hunter Moon is a time when we can see, what is coming to an end in our lives and will not survive any longer. What was once a source of joy and now drains our energy. Blood symbolizes life energy. And we can only keep our life energy fresh and alive if we let go of the things that drag us down. Quickly and painlessly or slowly and dramatically. Beaver Moon – November – 15.11.2024

The days are now getting significantly shorter and the temperature is falling. These are the last days of autumn when we can prepare for winter. The beaver is aware of this and is filling its nest with everything it needs for the long winter. And just like the beaver, we should always be well prepared and focus on indoor activities. The beaver doesn’t want to impress anyone, but it always succeeds. It’s time to prepare for what’s to come, the end of the year is approaching and we still have the chance to put unfinished business in order. This moon is suitable for reflection.
Cold Moon – December – 15.12.2024
Time: 10:03 CET/CEST in the sign of Gemini
As winter gains strength, the forces of nature retreat, only to unfold again in spring. Everything dies to be reborn. It is cold and dark, calm and quiet. But just as we can light a candle in the darkness, we can also connect with our inner light. In the silence of the cold and darkness, we can more easily concentrate on meditation and look inward without being distracted by external factors. The cold moon strengthens spiritual affirmations that are associated with insight and introspection and bring light into the darkness. This moon is also called the Yule moon, after the Yule festival at the winter solstice, the Christ moon or the Long Night Moon.
The days between the years are called the “Rough Nights” or “Furry Nights”.
